Choghadiya Today

Choghadiya divides the day and night into eight parts each, labelled Amrit, Shubh, Labh (auspicious), Char (neutral) and Rog, Kaal, Udveg (inauspicious). It is the quickest way to pick a good short window for travel, purchases or any everyday task.

The seven Choghadiya and their nature

  • Amrit (Moon) — most auspicious, good for all work.
  • Shubh (Jupiter) — auspicious, good for ceremonies and important starts.
  • Labh (Mercury) — auspicious, good for business and learning.
  • Char (Venus) — neutral/movable, good for travel.
  • Rog (Mars) — inauspicious, avoid; usable only for conflict/competition.
  • Kaal (Saturn) — inauspicious, avoid new work; usable for wealth accumulation.
  • Udveg (Sun) — inauspicious, avoid; causes anxiety.

How to use Choghadiya

  1. Set your city and date: Sunrise and sunset for your location determine the windows.
  2. Find a good window: Pick an Amrit, Shubh or Labh period near the time you plan to act.
  3. Avoid Rog, Kaal, Udveg: Postpone new starts out of the inauspicious windows when you can.

Frequently asked questions

Which Choghadiya is best?

Amrit, Shubh and Labh are the auspicious ones and are preferred for new or important work. Char is neutral and especially good for travel. Rog, Kaal and Udveg are avoided.

How is day and night Choghadiya different?

Day Choghadiya divides sunrise-to-sunset into eight parts; night Choghadiya divides sunset-to-next-sunrise into eight. Both the sequence and lengths differ, so this tool computes them separately for your city.
