Business Muhurat Finder

A business muhurat is the day and window chosen to launch a venture or open a shop, so the first transaction happens under a favourable tithi, nakshatra, vara and yoga. Enter a date range and your city, and this finder scans each day, scores it from 0 to 100, and offers only that day's auspicious Choghadiya slots and its Abhijit Muhurta - with Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal excluded. Thirteen nakshatras count as favourable for commerce here.

No results found.
Raman ranks the fortification of the Lagna above all five angas. Computing it needs an ascendant per window, so the range is limited to 31 days.

What makes a business Muhurat auspicious

In Vedic Muhurta, a good day to launch a venture or open a shop is one where the five limbs of the Panchang - tithi, vara (weekday), nakshatra, yoga and karana - favour wealth, movement and fresh beginnings. The Moon's strength and the absence of malefic combinations matter most.

The finder reads all five limbs for every day in your range and reports which of them helped and which cost points. A single strong factor rarely carries a day on its own; the dates that rank highest are the ones where the nakshatra, the tithi and the weekday agree with each other.

  • Nakshatras: the thirteen this finder scores as favourable for business are Ashwini, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Revati, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada; Pushya is especially prized for prosperity and stability.
  • Weekdays: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are the favourable set - Wednesday for Mercury the planet of trade, Thursday for Jupiter and growth, Friday for Venus and wealth.
  • Tithis to avoid: the Rikta tithis (4th, 9th and 14th) and Amavasya are considered weak for new beginnings and are marked down.
  • A Ganda Moola nakshatra and the nine inauspicious nitya yogas, among them Vyatipata and Vaidhriti, cost the day points.

Choosing the exact window on the day

Once a strong date is fixed, the muhurta - a short window within the day - is picked from the day's Choghadiya. The Labh, Amrit and Shubh Choghadiya, and the Abhijit Muhurta around midday, are traditionally used for opening a shop or making the first transaction.

The windows themselves come from the day's Choghadiya, each an eighth of the daylight, plus Abhijit Muhurta, which is one fifteenth of it. Because both are proportions of the real day rather than fixed clock hours, their timings move with your city's sunrise and sunset and with the season.

  • Inauspicious day-parts - Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal - are excluded from every recommended window; a candidate overlapping one of them is capped at 40 and dropped.
  • The Labh Choghadiya, ruled by Mercury, is named for gain and is a classic choice for commerce.
  • Abhijit Muhurta, the eighth of the daytime's fifteen equal muhurtas, is offered on every day except Wednesday, when it is not taken as auspicious.
  • For a personalised pick, the owner's birth nakshatra can be entered so the finder also checks Tara Bala and Chandra Bala for that day.

Reading the score, and what it does not include

Every window carries a number from 0 to 100 and a band: excellent from 72, good from 58, fair from 44, avoid below that. Beside the number the finder lists the individual factors that produced it and a Panchanga Shuddhi panel that grades the day's five angas separately, each with its own citation. Read those rather than the number alone - the composite weighting is this site's own editorial choice, since no source, Sanskrit or modern, ranks the five angas numerically against each other.

The one attested ordering is respected in the weights: B. V. Raman, Muhurtha ch. II, "by far the most important ones are tithi, nakshatra and vara", so no yoga or karana penalty is ever larger than the smallest tithi, nakshatra or vara penalty. What the finder does not do is reason about longer periods - Chaturmas, the two Kharmas and an Adhika month are month-level rules with no channel here, so days inside them can still be returned and remain yours to check.

How to find a business opening Muhurat

  1. Set your date range: Enter the earliest and latest dates you would consider opening the business or shop.
  2. Enter your city: Choose the city where the opening will take place so sunrise, choghadiya and Rahu Kaal are calculated for your exact location.
  3. Add your birth star (optional): Give the owner's Janma nakshatra so Tara Bala and Chandra Bala are weighed into each day's score.
  4. Review the ranked windows: The finder scores each auspicious window and lists the best dates and times, excluding Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal.

Frequently asked questions

Which day is best to open a shop or start a business?

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are the finder's favourable weekdays - Wednesday for Mercury (trade), Thursday for Jupiter (growth) and Friday for Venus (wealth). The best single day still depends on the tithi, nakshatra and yoga falling on that date, which is what the scan compares for you.

Which nakshatras are auspicious for a business Muhurat?

Thirteen are in this finder's favourable set for business: Ashwini, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Revati, Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha and Uttara Bhadrapada. Pushya is especially valued for prosperity and steady growth.

Do I need my birth details for a business Muhurat?

No. A general auspicious window can be found from the date range and city alone. Adding your birth nakshatra lets the finder also check Tara Bala and Chandra Bala, so the day suits you personally as well as being generally clear.

Which Choghadiya is best for opening a shop?

Labh, ruled by Mercury and named for gain, is the classic choice for commerce, with Amrit and Shubh close behind; Char is neutral and usable. The finder never offers Rog, Kaal or Udveg at all, and it drops any window overlapping Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda or Gulika Kaal, so what you see is already filtered.

What does the 0 to 100 muhurat score mean?

It bands as excellent from 72, good from 58, fair from 44 and avoid below 44. It is a composite this site computes, not a classical rule - no source ranks the five angas numerically. The weights do follow the one attested ordering, from B. V. Raman's Muhurtha ch. II, that tithi, nakshatra and vara outrank yoga and karana. Read the factor list and the Panchanga Shuddhi panel beside it, which carry citations.
