Privacy Policy

Overview

AstroZivi is a free Vedic astrology application. We are privacy-first: your birth details and saved charts stay on your device by default, and no analytics run until you choose to accept them. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and your choices.

Data We Collect

• Birth Details: Date, time, and place of birth are sent to our servers to compute your charts. They are processed in memory and are NOT written to any database. To avoid recomputing an identical chart, the result is held in a short-lived server cache for up to 10 minutes, keyed on the birth date, time, timezone and coordinates. Your name is not part of that key and is not stored server-side. The cache is in-memory only and is lost whenever the server restarts.
• On-Device Storage: Saved kundalis, your preferences (theme, ayanamsha, house system), jaap counts and life events are stored in your browser's localStorage. We do not upload or read this data.
• Sharing a Chart: If you use the share button, the link we copy contains the birth details it needs to reopen that chart. Anyone you send the link to — and any service it passes through, such as a messaging app's link preview — can read those details. Share it only with people you intend to see it.
• No Account Required: We do not require registration. We do not collect your email, password, or any account identity.

Cookies & Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (loaded via Firebase) to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate (city-level) location — so we can improve it. This uses cookies and similar identifiers.

Analytics does NOT run until you accept the cookie banner. You can decline and the entire app keeps working. We never send your birth details or saved data to analytics. If advertising is enabled, Google may also set cookies to serve ads.

Third-Party Services

• Google / Firebase: Provides the analytics described above as our data processor, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Used as a fallback for birth-city search when a place is not in our built-in list. Only the text you typed into the city box is sent, from our server rather than your browser; no birth date, time or name is included.
• Payment Processors: If you purchase a report, Razorpay processes your payment under its own privacy policy. We do not store card details.

Data Security

All traffic uses HTTPS encryption and API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent abuse. Birth details are never written to a database; the only server-side copy is the in-memory computation cache described above, which expires within 10 minutes and does not include your name.

Your Choices & Rights

You control analytics consent at any time using the button below. You can clear all saved kundalis and preferences by clearing your browser's site data — because that data lives only in your browser, clearing it is a complete erasure and needs no request to us. Under applicable law (including the GDPR and India's DPDP Act) you may withdraw consent for analytics at any time. We do not currently operate user accounts, so there is no server-side profile to export or delete; if that changes, this policy will be updated before any account data is collected.

This policy may be updated periodically. The latest version will always be available on this page.
