Marriage Numerology

This is a marriage reading, not a general compatibility percentage. It takes both partners' Mulank, Bhagyank, Naamank and Life Path and reads each pair as its own axis, with a reading written for what that axis is about in a marriage - daily temperament, the direction of a life, the names as they are used, and the Western Life Path. There is no combined score anywhere on the page, because nothing in this practice says how to weight one axis against another.

Marriage numerology
Both partners' Mulank, Bhagyank, Naamank and Life Path - four axes on four scales, and no combined percentage.

The four axes, and what each one is about

Reducing a couple to one number throws away most of what the practice actually reads. These four are kept separate because they answer different questions and can honestly disagree.

  • Mulank - the birth day reduced. The axis of ordinary domestic life: how each of you behaves on a Tuesday, not on an anniversary.
  • Bhagyank - every digit of the full birth date. Where each life is going, which is not the same question as whether daily life is easy.
  • Naamank - the Chaldean value of the names you actually go by. The only one of the four that can be changed, which is why name correction is a separate tool.
  • Life Path - the Pythagorean chain, kept on its own row because it is a separate system and can return the master numbers 11, 22 and 33.

Why there is no percentage

Numerology supplies a friend-or-not verdict for a pair of numbers. It does not supply cut-points, weights, or a rule for turning four verdicts into one figure. A percentage would therefore be an invention of whoever built the page, and it would look exactly as authoritative as one that was not.

What this page shows instead is a count - how many of the four axes came back as the same number or as mutual friends - printed beside the four rows it counts. It is a tally of facts on the page, not a measurement, and it is never converted into a percentage.

Read it beside Guna Milan, not instead of it

The 36-point Ashtakoot Guna Milan on the Kundli Matching page is computed from both partners' Moon nakshatras under named classical rules. This page is modern number practice with no classical Sanskrit source at all, and the page says so where the reading is made.

Averaging the two, or presenting a numerology figure as though it adjusted a guna total, would make the sourced reading unsourceable. So they are run separately and read side by side. Where they disagree, both stand - that is information about the couple, not an error in either method.

The wedding year

Entering a year adds each partner's Personal Year for it, with what that year is like to marry in. The two Personal Years are shown separately and are never combined: they are different quantities belonging to different people, and this practice has no rule for adding them.

How to read marriage numerology for a couple

  1. Enter both names and birth dates: Use the names each partner actually goes by, since the Naamank is computed from the name in use rather than a legal name.
  2. Add a wedding year if you have one: Each partner's Personal Year for that year is shown separately, with what it is like to marry in.
  3. Read the four axes one at a time: Each row names its own inputs and its own reduction rule, so the three numbers all called 'destiny' in different systems cannot be confused.
  4. Read the count as a count: How many of the four axes agree is a tally of the rows, not a score, and it is not comparable with the 36 points of Guna Milan.
  5. Run Kundli Matching too: Guna Milan is the reading with classical rules behind it. Read the two side by side and let a disagreement stand.

Frequently asked questions

Is marriage numerology the same as Kundli Matching?

No. Kundli Matching computes the 36 gunas of Ashtakoot from both Moon nakshatras under classical rules. Marriage numerology reduces birth dates and names to single digits under a modern practice with no Sanskrit source. Run both and read them side by side; this page will not blend them, and neither should a reading that quotes it.

What if the four axes disagree with each other?

That is normal and it is the reason they are shown separately. Two people can be easy together day to day and want different decades, which is exactly a Mulank agreement with a Bhagyank disagreement. Collapsing the four into one figure would have hidden the only useful thing the reading had to say.

Are 4 and 8 bad numbers for marriage?

Modern practice reads Rahu's 4 and Saturn's 8 as heavy, and this page flags them where they occur. It does not deduct for them, because there is nothing to deduct from - there is no score. The flag sits beside the axes, not inside them.

Can changing a name improve the match?

The Naamank is the only one of the four axes that can be changed at all, since the other three come from birth dates. Whether a respelling changes anything beyond the arithmetic is a claim of modern numerology with no classical source, and it is labelled as such here rather than asserted.
